Reflection:
A library media specialist (LMS) is responsible for the management and administration of library media programs according to the ALA/AASL Standards for Initial Preparation of School Librarians (2010). Throughout my courses in this program, I have demonstrated my ability to do this through several assignments.
In the Strategic Management Plan that I created in FRIT 7331, I evaluated the learning community, examined the physical and virtual spaces of the facility, and explored the services, collection, circulation, and scheduling offered by the library. I then assessed my findings, proposed both short and long term goals for the improvement of the program, and outline a budget to accomplish them. Through this process, I was able to demonstrate my mastery of Standard 5.
The Grant Application that I completed as a part of the requirements for this practicum further helped me to become proficient in Standard 5. In order to supplement my programs budget as a library media specialist, I designed a program, evaluated my population, and budgeted accordingly.
Evaluating the program at Wilkinson County Middle and High School Library Media Center with the 2016 Judy Serritella Exemplary Library Media Program Self-Evaluation Rubric is another example of how I have demonstrated the requirements for Standard 5. As an LMS, I know the importance of regular program evaluations is that it reveals areas of strengths and areas in need of growth.
Lastly, the Digital Citizenship video that I created for FRIT 7235 is an example of how I am committed to the ethics of the LMS profession.

Key Assessment - Strategic Management Plan.
Reflection:
The Strategic Management Plan allowed me to take a deep dive into the workings of the library media center (LMC) at my school. I analyzed the learning community, facilities, and services that the LMC offered. After this analysis, I developed a program plan and budget plan to enhance the impact of the LMC and its services on the student learning in the building. This artifact supports elements 5.1, 5.3, and 5.4.

Grant Application (Task 7).
My completion of this grant application demonstrates my ability to evaluate my patron base, develop a program plan to supplement their needs, create a budget, and seek alternate sources of funding for my program. The ability to secure alternate sources of funding is of particular value when working in a district with budget restraints as I do. This artifact supports element 5.3.
Program Evaluation Rubric (Task 8).
Completing this program evaluation rubric and report has given me the opportunity to highlight strengths and weaknesses of my program. I was excited to discover that we received the majority of our indicator ratings as proficient and exemplary. Evaluating the collections, personnel, funding, facilities, planning and assessment allowed me to demonstrate my mastery of Standard 5: Program Management and Administration. Professional ethics dictate that a library media specialist strive for excellence, and an evaluation helps to direct that mission. Although it is important to highlight successes, the most useful data is that which reveals areas in need of slight and major improvement. This artifact supports elements 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4.
Digital Citizenship Instructional Video.
This instructional video on the digital etiquette aspect of digital citizenship demonstrates my fulfillment of the professional ethics element of Standard 5. This video shows both my commitment to digital citizenship and ability to instruct both students and teachers. This artifact supports element 5.2.
