Reflection:
Ethical use of various resources is an element of learning that becomes more and more important with every passing day. We live in the information age; we have more access to more information that anyone ever has in the history of the world. Making sure to use that information in ethical and equitable ways is a goal that library media specialists must not only demonstrate, but teach as well.
The curated list that I created as a part of this practicum experience is an example of my mastery of Standard 3. I was able to provide access to information using information technology and to demonstrate how to locate, evaluate, and ethically use information for a specific purpose.
In FRIT 7136, I created an Information Literacy Lesson Plan to implement with a group of 10th grade students at my high school. The lesson focused on research, ethical use of information, and using Web 2.0 tools. Planning and teaching this lesson allowed me to demonstrate mastery of Standard 3 of ALA/AASL Standards for Initial Preparation of School Librarians (2010) in that I was able to work with students on ethical research and use, access to information, information technology, and research.

Curated List (Task 3).

The curated list that I created for my collaborative lesson as a part of this practicum experience is an example of how I am able to provide students with a carefully selected set of resources for a specific task. When creating the list, I considered the task at hand, the desired outcomes, and the previous knowledge of my students. This artifact supports elements 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4.
Information Literacy Lesson Plan.
This information literacy lesson plan that I created in FRIT 7136 was my first attempt at teaching from the role of a media specialist. Although I found it difficult to shirt my mindset from English teacher to library media specialist, I ended up enjoying the change just as much as I hoped that I would. This lesson not only showed my mastery of Standard 3, but served as a motivator to continue with my pursuit of this degree. This artifact supports elements 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4.
